However, those odds can change over time. There is a caveat, however. It depends on the type of game they are playing.

Let me give you an example using sports betting. You bet on the underdog even though the odds are high. Surprisingly the underdog team is up big.

Sports bettors that arrive late in the game can also place bets at the half. Some bookmarking websites do this. The odds will change in the latter stages of the game. So in this context, odds and timing can play a role in winning.

You may bet on the favourite to make an epic comeback and win the game. Plus, you could win more money. But in sports, anything can happen.

Sweepstakes and online casinos are two different things. Plus, the odds are different as well. There are a total of total entrants. You have a 1 in chance of winning. I also have the same amount of winning myself.

Not to mention, you have a greater chance of winning a sizable prize in online casinos. You are free to enter them as you please.

For a list of current sweepstakes going on right now, you can click here. The best time to enter is when the sweepstakes have launched. I also notice that more people enter — albeit en masse — when the deadline is fast approaching. Entering sooner is always a good idea.

However, I cannot guarantee that it will increase your chances of winning. Be sure to keep that in mind. In my personal experience, I have noticed online casinos are less crowded outside of the late nights and weekends.

So any time outside of those time windows will be prime for lesser players. They might offer increased payouts and bonuses. Now I was able to take advantage of these offers myself. You may stand to win a lesser amount and the wait times to join a new table may be a bit longer.

I hope you found my advice and insights interesting. Online casinos and sweepstakes are fun for the most part. And I know that the anticipation of winning can be exciting and nerve-racking at the same time.

Nonetheless, I think you ought to enter these games and sweepstakes with the mindset of doing it for the fun of it and nothing more. Your home for all your videogame needs. SECTIONS Reviews. What are the odds that someone could win any monthly contest here, let alone TWICE in the SAME month? Since they are not all available for the entire month…some 1, 2, or 3 weeks say…. still when I do enter one I use all 10 entries…. just for me. I win about 1 time a year….

lol 😄 …. so for me the odds of winning are about 1 in 2 ½ MILLION!! But to throw into the equation…. what are the odds…that someone could win any monthly contest? I found this interesting because I've been AARP member for 27 years, and online member since ; and earning points and entering sweeps since whenever that started.

For me, that means these sweeps are pretty much legit; the administration of them, however, seem lax. I have been able to find the sweeps are outsourced to a company "HelloWorld". I don't know if that's what the other "winners" experienced or were told, but I do think that info should be included.

In addition, AARP Foundation and AARP Help End Senior Poverty hasn't received points for two months. There is a post regarding that: AARP Foundation Contribution?

I sincerely hope your win works out for you. It's good you are cautious when it comes to HelloWorld, not the best company to deal with. Hopefully your reward will arrive soon with no problems. They do not respond very well for assistance when their shipments do not arrive at their destination.

They tend to shift all the responsibility to the delivery service. In my experience most situations with lost shipment claims have to be initiated with the shipper HelloWorld.

That's kinda the reviews I found online; not sure why AARP chose this vendor, but there it is hopefully none of the AARP "mucky-mucks" have shares in HelloWorld I won one and was notified in the middle of March for a February sweepstakes.

I received the egift card about 9 to 10 weeks after being notified. So if you won a October sweepstakes and were notified in November you will probably receive it around the middle of January.

I guess I look at it differently. When you check the terms and conditions for the sweepstakes there is a different link for each one. Most of the information is the same for each except telling what the prizes are.

When it says 1 prize per person, I take it to mean 1 per each sweepstakes. If there are 10 sweepstakes in a month, in theory someone could win all of them and still only have 1 win per sweepstakes. That would still fit that only 1 prize per person for each sweepstakes. I agree with you. The administrator might be able to combine all opportunities into one sweepstake and then prevent someone from winning two prizes in one month.

We might lose the ability to select which prize we want or have different types of limits on the number of daily entries. As the original post indicated, the odds of winning are slim for anyone. For the recent double winner: congrats on the amazing luck.

AARPTeri AARPJanelleM. Hello Teri, Janelle, could you please remind us of the sweepstakes rules, specially concerning the frequency that sweepstakes can be earned? After seeing the post by Therapist4u with its interesting tables, I am confused.

Hi Janelle, Though I am always grateful and surprised when I get an answer at all from AARP, I would truly prefer if the answer was related to the question. To reiterate, I was asking how often we can win a sweepstake in a month.

To put it into perspective and to clarify the inquiry, it's because a couple of years ago, we were told that only 1 sweepstake could be won in a month; I remember well as some members protested vehemently. ab Any participant can win more than one sweepstakes in a month. However, they cannot win the same sweepstakes twice.

Everyone has an equal chance of winning a sweepstake upon entry. KellytheBelly Therapist4u. ab You are most welcome. Have a Happy New Year! Good morning, AARPJanelleM. How about simply answering the main question here, as has been posted several times, by several people Meaning, is it perfectly fine if one person wins two different sweepstakes in one month?

Please, just need the answer for this, and we'll be on our merry way! Thanks for asking AARPJanelleM. The link to sweeps rules she posted is for each sweeps sponsor We simply need to know Seems I remember reading somewhere that any one member can only win once per sponsor?!?

lol 😄. I have never ever won a sweepstakes and I have been doing the maximum number of entries on at least four or five sweepstakes each month since September I have been entering thinking someone has to win and maybe it might be me.

But I am losing all hope especially if someone is winning two sweepstakes in one month. I believe I will quit spending so much time earning points and entering the sweepstakes.

What chance do I have of ever winning one. I will earn enough points to hopefully get three gift cards each month. A lot of time saved!

I haven't won a sweepstakes yet either, I usually pick two a month to enter every day Pottery Barn please oh please!!! I think if someone wins, they should not be able to win again for at least a year, with all the others out there that have not won at all Hi KennethG Thanks for your reply.

I agree…. Still haven't won a sweep this year, and it really grinds my gears when someone wins it twice, and I thought that was against the rules.

Yet, when I ask about it, nobody from AARP recognizes it. That speaks to me quite loudly. Thanks for your reply,…. that help to make this an important issue. The most common statement of odds is "odds of winning depend on the number of entries. Multiply by to get the percentage chance of winning. Be careful, because some states are very strict about this, and penalties for violation are severe with charges for "fraudulent business practice", a misdemeanor.

For example I know in California, you are required to provide specific odds for winning in a format such as "x chances in ,". Until you have substantial stats to backup your claims, it's best to use very high odds. There are people who take such things quite seriously, and just one complaint from a sore loser to the Department of Consumer Affairs or its equivalent could ruin your day.

I should have added that most of these online sweeps are run by major corporations and generate millions of entries detomaso 12 years ago.

Call a promotions company and ask them what it would cost to run such a contest for you. They have insurance companies that insure their contests and calculate odds. In the proposal back to you they will include the odds.

Consider hiring one of them to run it for you to make sure you are in compliance with the law. That will give you peace of mind. Two I have worked with and are highly recommended are Million Dollar Media dotcom and Odds On Promotions dotcom sorry I don't have enough posts to add links.

However, searching them out individually can be really time-consuming, and it can sometimes be hard to tell which sweepstakes are trustworthy. To make the search easier, bookmark a few popular sweepstakes websites, and check back regularly to see what's new. Subscribe to a sweeps newsletter to get listings in your inbox.

If you'd prefer to have sweepstakes listings sent directly to you, sign up for email newsletters from sweepstakes directories. They'll sort through any active sweepstakes, highlighting the best ones in their emails.

Some of the most popular contest newsletters include This 'n' That Sweepstakes Club, SweepSheet. com, SweepsU. com, and I Win Contests. Most of these sites offer a free version of their newsletter, but they typically will also offer a premium membership where you'll get exclusive access to certain listings.

Follow sweepstakes pages and groups on social media. Many companies use contests and sweepstakes to help boost their followers on social media. While you may sometimes come across promotions being offered by the brands you already follow, you'll be more likely to come across contests if you follow social media pages or join groups that aggregate sweepstakes.

Similar to a website or a newsletter, these pages will post new sweepstakes, along with reminders to re-enter daily contests. Use the radio and social media to find local contests.

If you can find a contest that's only eligible to people who live near you, be sure to enter it! Local and regional contests tend to get fewer entries than sweepstakes that are open nation-wide.

Local radio stations frequently promote sweepstakes and contests, but you may also see promotions on local business pages on sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Check the rules before you enter regional contests—you often have to live in a specific area in order to qualify.

Avoid sweepstakes that ask for your bank information and other scams. Unfortunately, any time you're surfing online, you're at risk of coming across a scam. To be safe, stay away from any contests that ask you to pay to enter, or which ask for your credit card number or other personal information.

Read the fine print before entering your phone number into a sweepstake—you may be consenting to receive promotional phone calls. Don't enter sweepstakes that you see advertised on pop-up ads. These are typically scams designed to get your email address or other personal info.

Method 2. Create a dedicated email for entering sweepstakes. When you're entering online contests, you always have to include an email with your entry, because that's typically how they'll contact you if you win. However, it's best not to use your main email address to sign up for sweeps, or you could be flooded with spam and promotional emails.

In addition, you might miss important sweeps information or even emails about prizes if they're mixed into your regular inbox.

If you accidentally enter a contest that isn't legit, using an alternate email address could help protect your personal information. Set aside a little time each day for entering sweeps. The only way you can win a sweepstake is to enter it.

If you really want to have a chance at getting a prize, try to spend at least 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week on sweepstakes. However, if you want to be a really devoted sweeper, you'll have the best shot if you spend about hours a week on your entries. Enter as many different sweepstakes as you can.

Use your sweepstakes directories and newsletters to find as many contests as possible that you're eligible to enter.

Since your odds of winning each one are relatively low, entering a wide variety of sweeps will give you the best chance of nabbing prizes. Typically, there are no rules that keep you from entering multiple sweepstakes at once—just rules about how often you can enter each contest.

Focus on sweepstakes with multiple prizes when possible. Some sweepstakes only have a single grand prize, but others will have additional prizes for runners-up.

If a contest has multiple winners, your chances of being selected for one of those prizes will be doubled, tripled, or more! Submit as many entries as possible to each contest. Some sweepstakes only allow you to enter once, but others will allow you to submit a new entry daily, weekly, or monthly.

What is required after the sweepstakes winner s are selected? Records of the sweepstakes prize winner s should be retained for a period of no less than 4 years. Additionally, if the sweepstakes was bonded, the sponsor must send a winners list in Florida and New York.

In addition, in some instances the entry materials may need to be retained for a defined period of time. We use cookies to improve functionality, performance, and user experience.
